Some example of resident service:

Example 1:  Andrew, a resident from Jasper ward recently emailed me because he saw I was a candidate for the area. He and his neighbors, one of them is blind, have been troubled by hard rubbish dumping on the nature strip. This problem is on and off for about eight months.  I responded with a solution to completely resolve the issue and contacted the responsible officer. I received a reply from the responsible director of council, and Andrew was very happy with my help. He shared my email with relevant people.

1) Below is my response email to Andrew:

“Hi Andrew,

I wanted to update you that I have reached out to Neil and Jessica to initiate addressing this difficult matter. I will keep you informed of their response.

Upon reviewing your situation more closely, I realize it is more severe than I initially understood. It’s truly unfair that you and your neighbors have to endure such environmental challenges for so long.

Your email has prompted me to think critically about this issue and has led to some preliminary ideas for addressing it at its root for the benefit of the entire Glen Eira City.

I have several initiatives in mind for seniors, unemployed individuals, local businesses, and parents of aspiring young athletes. Now, I’d like to propose a specific initiative to tackle the environmental issue.

Here’s my preliminary thought: I suggest implementing an educational campaign similar to how parking fines are handled. The council could distribute educational materials in libraries, at Coles/Woolworths, at local train stations, and through mailboxes and council newsletters. These materials would inform residents about appropriate behaviors regarding environmental upkeep and outline the next steps for enforcement:

  • The start date for the enforcement.
  • First-time offenders would receive a notice.
  • Second-time offenders would incur a fine ( starting at $80).
  • Recurring offenders would be fined without notice.

After a few months of this campaign, we could evaluate its effectiveness. Initially, we could select 20% of offenders to fine and gradually increase this percentage to encourage compliance and community discussion. If you have any thoughts, please feel free to share them with me

I believe this strategy could work, but I am open to other methods if necessary. Rest assured, your issue is on my radar.

My vision is “For a caring, livable, fairer, and safer community” In the next few days, leading up to October 25th, I will be sending letters to all residents in Jasper to share my vision, priorities, and initiatives.

Cheers, Jian”

2) After receiving my email, Andrew’s reply to my email:

“Thank you and well done on such a considered and comprehensive response, and also for contacting council. … I think that your education initiative would be very worthwhile.”

3) Within 2 days, I got an email reply from the responsible director of the council.

4) Andrew is very happy with my help. Furthermore, I inform Andrew I are going to add:tackling irresponsible dumping in our neighborhood in one of my to do lists if elected.Andrew responded:”  That is a great initiative with your points. I think many residents see this as a key issue”. Now this is one on my to do list.

Example 2:

Another madam spoke to me for about 3.5 hours regarding elderly individuals left isolated and even without food. I proposed a “quick response unit” as one of my initiatives, and she was very pleased. She mentioned that if I am elected, she would like to work together to implement this initiative.

Example 3:

I actively make suggestions to various levels of government and have received personal letters of thanks from a former premier and a former prime minister for my contributions.
